Professor Lewis Sheats discusses the drop in optimism in Triangle entrepreneurs

The latest quarterly survey conducted by the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic and the City of Raleigh reported a second straight drop in optimism in Triangle entrepreneurs. The key categories affecting the slightly lower decline include hiring, capital spending, and expectations for growth. However, the director of the survey, Assistant Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship Lewis Sheats, does not seem worried about the pattern of decline. “Perhaps the entrepreneurial ventures in our ecosystem do all their planning and forecasting early in the year and pull back a bit in the third and fourth quarters,” Sheats said as an explanation.
