NC State Economist Michael Walden States That A Recession is Farther Off Than Originally Reported

Michael Walden, a William Neal Reynolds distinguished professor and extension economist at NC State, spoke to the Chatham Chamber of Commerce on August 30 for the annual Chatham Development Meeting. During the meeting, Walden stated to the room of 300 that the projected recession is in the future, just farther down the road than expected. The recession is most likely coming in 2021 according to Walden who does not see the need for people to begin to panic. “I don’t see a recession staring us in the face,” said Walden. “In economics terms, 2021 is a long way off. My current view is no recession next year.” Read more on the Chatham News and Record.
