Poole College Looks Back at Memorable 2019

As 2019 comes to a close, we look back at our achievements as a college in various areas: student success, faculty and scholarship, engagement with academia, industry and community, organizational excellence, and local and global engagement.

We welcomed our new dean, Dr. Frank Buckless.

Thirteen faculty members joined Poole College –– professionals and academics who are thought leaders, with enduring ties to the world of business.

Our faculty published in top journals, and we continue seeing faculty cited in local and national media.

College applications and admissions are on the rise across programs, including a 27 percent increase in applications for first-year out-of-state residents, 11 percent increase in online student enrollment for the Jenkins MBA program, 7 percent student enrollment increase for the Master of Accounting (MAC) program and 6 percent student enrollment increase for the Master of Management, Global Luxury program.

We created the Poole Leadership Challenge that makes it easy for undergraduate students to track and manage what they are learning beyond the classroom through the Suitable app.

We launched the online MAC program in response to growing demand for flexible learning options for working professionals and the needs of lifelong learners.

Numerous rankings have validated the programs improvements, including being ranked No. 10 in undergraduate entrepreneurship and No. 21 in graduate entrepreneurship; the No. 7 online MBA program; and the No. 9 MAC program and accounting undergraduate program in the South.

We have created the leadership and analytics certificates to launch in 2020.

Our major initiatives started a number of nondegree professional development programs for executives, including the Women in Technical Leadership program and ERM in Nonprofit Organizations workshop.

Internally, Poole College reorganized and expanded the Office of Business Services and the Office of Global Programs. We also launched two professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, the Poole Pack Development Series and the CliftonStrengths Assessment.

Our faculty, staff, students and alumni received numerous awards.

We look forward to what challenges and successes 2020 brings!
