Poole College Faculty, Staff Accomplishments in December 2019 to January 2020

The internal monthly accomplishments series will celebrate the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management. Faculty and staff worked tirelessly to end the fall 2019 semester on a high note and are continuing their exemplary work into the new year.

  • The American Accounting Association recognized Mark Beasley as the 2020 Outstanding Auditing Educator on January 17 at its mid-year meeting in Houston, Texas. Learn more.
  • Conscious Company recently recognized Jessica Thomas in a series featuring 13 women who are leading the “fourth wave of social enterprise”. She was recognized for her work in the Business Sustainability Collaborative and with B Academics. Learn more.
  • Bobby Puryear began visiting public and private schools ranging from high school to third grade speaking about different economic topics that included immigration and effective use of data and the impact of increasing minimum wage.
  • Tayah Butler participated in the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Diversity and Inclusion Summit in November and where she led a workshop on finding sources of revenue for diversity programs regardless of size and budget.
  • Paul Mulvey and Leigh Shamblin recently completed the Quality Matters certification to improve the value of their online and blended courses to meet the national standard. 
  • Eileen Taylor became the new president of the Flower Shuttle, a local charity that repurposes flowers for the needy and sick.
  • Lewis Sheats was one of 13 participants to join the Global Engagement Institute for the 2019-2020 academic year.
  • The Women in Tech Leadership Program organized by the Executive Education was selected as the 2019 Best Open Enrollment Program by the Conference for Management and Executive Development.
  • Monique Merriweather-Yarborough received her master’s degree in human resources on Dec. 14, 2019 from Western Carolina University. 
  • The NC State Staff Senate recognized Chandra Russell for her extraordinary contributions to the college and to the Office of Business Services team.
