The Poole College of Management Finance Club has developed a mentorship program for members to connect NC State alumni with club members interested in various financial careers and industries. Current club president, Chris Silver, and the executive committee including Mohammed Hafiz, Alex Hunter, Zach Abramczyk and Jack Zeller built and designed the program for fellow students.

This program was formulated in the hopes of building out NC State’s Finance and Banking pipeline with alumni in various industries and also to provide current students with a resource that will help with the necessary steps to attain internships and full time positions at top firms.

This was done with the hope of providing a few students with leadership positions and to enable the program to have the greatest impact on the largest number of students possible.

“This was done with the hope of providing a few students with leadership positions and to enable the program to have the greatest impact on the largest number of students possible,” said Joshua Bryan, former president of the Finance Club. We are very excited about the end result of the program.”

Applications for the mentorship program open two months before the start of each semester and, for those who are accepted, are paired with alumni who currently work in their desired financial services industry. Throughout the semester, the student and their alumni member will have two phone call opportunities and an optional mock interview.

This past semester, the Finance Club had 37 applicants and was able to secure mentor commitments from 20 alumni to pair with students.

“We are hoping that the mentorship program will have an impact on both alumni mentors and student mentees alike,” said Bryan. “For the mentor, this program provides a great way to give back to NC State and stay connected to their alma mater as well as continue to build NC State’s alumni pipeline in the financial services industries.”
