On Dec. 31, 2021, NC State’s five-year Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign came to an incredibly successful close. Alumni, friends, employees and more helped propel the university well past its goal of $1.6 billion for a grand total of $2,103,932,120. These new funds will help drive NC State’s land-grant mission of creating economic, societal and intellectual prosperity for all by both reaffirming its commitment to broad educational opportunity and powering its cutting-edge, hands-on innovation as North Carolina’s leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) university.

NC State alumnus and chair of the NC State University Foundation Board Mike Constantino ’84 ’85 is one of the many Pack members who contributed to this historic fundraising effort. Along with his wife, Lori ’84, the former scholarship recipient is working to help others learn, grow and succeed at his alma mater by supporting the Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship Initiative and other efforts.

Mike Constantino shares what the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign means to him.

“When you volunteer to serve on a board at NC State, you have to have the passion to do it, but I think there are also other responsibilities that come with just being passionate,” Constantino said. “Some people believe that a college education is transactional — you pay your tuition, and when you earn your degree, your financial commitment to the university has ended. I believe that a college education is more than that and requires a lifelong financial commitment to your alma mater, particularly if you attended a public university.”
