Sylvia Bezawada Brings Data Analytics Background to the Office of Business Services

Poole College of Management’s Office of Business Services welcomes Sylvia Bezawada as a business intelligence analyst effective March 1.

Bezawada began her career in a corporate setting as a program analyst and soon transitioned higher education as a data analyst at Fort Valley State University in Georgia for five years.

“It’s so important for us to be able to make data-informed decisions and plans,” said Maggie Merry, assistant dean of finance and administration. “Much of the data has been painstakingly curated by a wide variety of people in the college who really need to be focused on analyzing the data, not preparing the data. By adding a business intelligence analyst to our team, we will be able to help people think strategically with data to help drive those decisions that need to be made.”

“Additionally, Sylvia will be working with others in the college to establish data standards and a data bank for when folks just need a quick fact. Her work will really transform us and we are so excited to have her as part of the college.”

As a business intelligence analyst, Bezawada will help Poole’s Business Services team to understand and evaluate business requirements and translate into specific business intelligence solutions. She will produce insightful business intelligence content including report definitions, scorecards, dashboards, alerts and automated delivery.

“As a data geek, I would love to explore and find useful insights from data and tell stories with data,” said Bezawada. “Since Poole has cross functional teams working together in the same college, it gives me vast data to analyze.”

Bezawada completed her master’s degree in computer science at the University of New Haven in 2016. She also received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Vignan’s Nirula Guntur in India.

Outside of her role, Bezawada enjoys swimming and going for hikes as well as binge watching shows on Netflix.
