Poole College Recognizes Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from April

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

  • Haley Huie, director of Entrepreneurship Clinic, represented NC State and Poole College last week on a panel discussion for Raleigh-Durham Startup Week to highlight pathways from college to startup life. Duke, UNC, NC State and NC Central each had faculty represented and the talk was held at American Underground in Durham. The week-long event was sponsored by Techstars. 
  • Christopher McKittrick, lecturer in accounting, is on the planning committee for and will be participating in the AICPA & CIMA CFO Conference which occurs April 27-29, 2022 in San Diego, CA.
  • Mark Beasley, professor of accounting, and the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Initiative hosted its Spring 2022 ERM Roundtable Summit virtually from 12-3:30 p.m.  The event had over 185 participants join the meeting from all across the U.S., and had some joining from the UK, Europe and Central America. 
  • Patrick Flynn’s, assistant professor of human resource management, paper “To Err is Human: Exploratory Multi-Level Analysis of Supply Chain Delivery Delays” was named an honorable mention for the Journal of Operations Management’s 2022 Jack Meredith Best Paper Award.
  • On April 8, Eileen Taylor, professor of accounting, was accepted as a Fulbright Specialist, which extends over a four-year period.
  • Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, joined a GEP webcast to share expert knowledge on how technology can mend the gap in supply chain and procurement practices.
  • Sarah Khan’s, teaching associate professor of information technology and business analytics, BUS 340, Information Systems Management, course is now Quality Matters certified.
  • Heidi Echols, instructional designer, presented with NC State instructor Mary Estrada for the Lilly Online Teaching Conference. The presentation was titled “The Courage to Unclench: Thriving in Any Classroom”.
  • In April, Nathan Goldman, assistant professor of accounting, received the FARS Excellence in Reviewing Award.
  • From April 29 to May 1, Daisoon Kim, assistant professor of economics, will present his paper “Heterogeneous Market Structure and International Trade Patterns” at the Midwest International Trade Conference at Purdue University.
  • On April 1, Demetris Cheatham, lecturer, presented on a panel on Tech and Diversity and Inclusion at the AI and Knowledge Work Conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Rishika Rishika, associate professor of marketing, presented her work, “The Effect of Daylight-Saving Time on Consumer Health-Related Behavior: An Empirical Examination,” at the Theory and Practice in Marketing Conference at Emory University. Additionally, she was invited to present “Competitive Effects of Front-of-Package Nutrition Labeling Adoption on Nutritional Quality: Evidence from Facts Up Front–Style Labels” at the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences in Washington DC.
  • Haroon Abbu, part-time lecturer in business management, was recognized by Business of Data as one of the 2022 Global Top 100 Innovators in Data and Analytics.
  • Steve Allen, professor of economics, presented “Today’s Economy: How Did We Get Here?  Where Are We Going?” to the Southern Textile Association’s spring meeting at the Wilson College of Textiles on April 13.
