Poole College Welcomes Marques Smith as IT Analyst

Poole’s Office of Business Services welcomes Marques Smith to the information technology (IT) team as an IT analyst.

Smith is an NC State alumnus who holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in international studies and in Chinese language and literature. During his undergraduate studies, Smith started as a student worker for Ask Us before transitioning to a full-time position as library technician at D.H. Hill Library where he worked for four years beginning in 2018.

We are very excited for Marques join us here to help build a first-class IT support model

“He brings a unique perspective and experience to our team; we are very excited for Marques to join us here to help build a first-class IT support model and deliver exceptional service to Poole College’s faculty, staff, and students,” said Sasha Challgren, director of IT.

In his new role as an IT analyst, Smith will be Poole’s front-line desktop support specialist. He will manage IT student computer consultants and oversee work on the new IT service desk scheduled to open late this year.

“I wanted to join Poole because of the opportunity to build something from the ground up, that being the new service desk, and to be able to help the faculty and students of the college,” said Smith.

Outside of the office, he spends time traveling, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and gaming with friends.
