Three Poole College Students Named PCAOB Scholars
Ansh Patel, Oladeji David Tofade and Michelle Santos Martinez received scholarships to support their auditing education.
Three Poole College students have been named Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholars for the 2026-27 academic year.
One undergraduate, Ansh Patel, and two Jenkins MAC students, Oladeji David Tofade and Michelle Santos Martinez, each received scholarships worth $15,000.
Martinez graduated from UNC Charlotte this May with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Tofade is returning to Poole after earning a BS in accounting this May. Patel, who is in the class of 2028, transferred to Poole this January after earning an AA from Wake Tech and is studying accounting.
“As a career choice, accounting offers students an opportunity to enter an innovative, technology-driven field that helps protect investors and build trust in our capital markets,” said PCAOB Chairman Jim Logothetis in a press release. “We congratulate this year’s PCAOB Scholars, who have shown already that they have what it takes to become leaders in the profession and gatekeepers in financial reporting.”
Founded as a result of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board oversees the auditing of public companies and SEC-registered brokers and dealers. The PCAOB Scholars Program, which is funded by PCAOB monetary penalties, launched in 2011 and supports exceptional students who are likely to become auditors. Potential scholars are nominated by their institutions.
