Poole College Celebrates its Latinx Community

As Latinx Heritage Month comes to a close, Poole College of Management looks back on a month of honoring and celebrating its incredible Latinx community.

The month recognizes the important presence of the Latin American community and the importance of sharing the experiences and identities of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community. Latinx Heritage Month is also a time for students to present issues facing their communities and stories of strength in the face of adversity.

“It is import for all of us who are a part of these Latinx movements and heritage to know that we have a place where we can express ourselves, feel included and truly showcase our values and what we bring to the table,” said Gabe Gonzalez Orta, project manager of the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic and graduate of Poole College.

Poole College holds the annual Latinx Heritage Display Reveal and the Barrio Party in celebration of the month. This year’s theme is Latinexistence, which represents the resilience and perseverance of the community members in their daily lives. The Barrio Party included Latino music and food trucks from locally owned restaurants in the Raleigh Latinx community.

“To see my face alongside beautiful other people who are equally as motivated and driven as I am is just an amazing experience,” said Carmen Nurinda, a business management student. “I’m definitely happy that I have been able to contribute so much to this celebration.”
