{"id":227961,"date":"2026-07-31T11:10:04","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T15:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/?p=227961"},"modified":"2026-07-31T11:10:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T15:10:10","slug":"three-poole-college-students-named-pcaob-scholars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2026\/07\/31\/three-poole-college-students-named-pcaob-scholars\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Poole College Students Named PCAOB Scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three Poole College students have been named Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholars for the 2026-27 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One undergraduate, Ansh Patel, and two <a href=\"https:\/\/mac.ncsu.edu\/\">Jenkins MAC<\/a> students, Oladeji David Tofade and Michelle Santos Martinez, each received scholarships worth $15,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Martinez graduated from UNC Charlotte this May with a bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting. Tofade is returning to Poole after earning a BS in accounting this May. Patel, who is in the class of 2028, transferred to Poole this January after earning an AA from Wake Tech and is studying accounting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs a career choice, accounting offers students an opportunity to enter an innovative, technology-driven field that helps protect investors and build trust in our capital markets,\u201d said PCAOB Chairman Jim Logothetis in a press release. \u201cWe congratulate this year\u2019s PCAOB Scholars, who have shown already that they have what it takes to become leaders in the profession and gatekeepers in financial reporting.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded as a result of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board oversees the auditing of public companies and SEC-registered brokers and dealers. The PCAOB Scholars Program, which is funded by PCAOB monetary penalties, launched in 2011 and supports exceptional students who are likely to become auditors.
