Belinda Dowdy is a Career Coach. Before coming to NC State, she worked as an electrical engineer, career coach and career and organization development trainer.

Belinda worked as an electrical engineer and project leader for 16 years in the United States, Germany, and France for several multinationals. She later worked as a freelance technical writer and trainer while starting a specialty coaching practice.

As a coach, she has helped small business owners reorganize and counseled all-but-dissertation PhD students to complete their degrees. She has worked in outplacement with thousands of professionals in career transition. Her work is informed by years of experience networking for business and labor market information, piecing together clues to global and regional economic trends, and helping individuals and businesses adapt to them.

Belinda earned her BSEE from the University of Tennessee, and coaching certifications from the Coaches Training Institute (CPCC) and the International Coach Federation (PCC). She is trained in Satir Systems, certified to interpret the MBTI and the Tilt 360 Leadership Predictor, and certified in 360Reach Personal Branding. She has been profiled in the Chronicle of Higher Education, was one of the expert panelists on WUNC’s The State of Things discussion on Surviving Your Layoff, and was featured on American Public Media’s Marketplace: Job Chronicles.
