Echols joins Poole College bringing over 20 years of experience in higher education at Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She served as a chair and professor of the dance studies department where she designed and created degrees in dance and movement science from the ground up. In addition to a faculty role, she held project manager and director roles at Salem College’s Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation.
As an instructional designer, Echols will support the instructional use of technologies to promote student success. As a part of the instructional design team, Echols will partner with faculty to design engaging, high quality courses and implement quality assurance standards and best teaching practices.
As many courses and faculty have transitioned to online learning, Echols will be working one-on-one, in group consultations and in workshops with faculty to help them implement research-based instructional design principles in their courses. She will also help with building Moodle courses, supporting video creation, and creating engaging online synchronous class sessions.
