Brad Ashbaugh, PhD

Lecturer, Department of Business Management
Brad Ashbaugh, Ph.D. is an industrial engineering professional and an expert in business management. Ashbaugh has lectured at a number of institutions including Wake Forest University, Meredith College and SKEMA Business School and is now transferring to a full-time lecturer with NC State. Ashbaugh is mainly lecturing operations and supply chain management courses, but he is also jointly appointed to teach information systems. He received both his master’s and doctorate degrees from NC State in industrial systems and engineering. Prior to returning for his doctorate degree, Dr. Ashbaugh worked as a consultant for SABRE Decision Technologies and as a process improvement/database manager for Renaissance Cruises. He created innovative information technology solutions and improved business processes for travel industry customers across the United States, England, and France.

Joseph Billingsley, PhD

Research Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Joseph Billingsley, Ph.D. joined the Poole College of Management from Miami where he received his doctorate degree in psychology with a concentration on quantitative psychology. Billingsley’s research focuses on the cooperation and altruism, the mechanisms underlying reconciliation and relationship repair, how kinship influences cooperation, religiosity and prosocial behavior, and social categorization. His research has been published in accredited journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Royal Society Open Science, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, and Evolution and Human Behavior. Billingsley is currently working with Professors Jeff Pollack and Jon Carr who were awarded a two-year grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to study the impact of an entrepreneur's social network embeddedness and engagement on subsequent venture success and the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Mehmet Caner, PhD

Professor, Department of Economics
Mehmet Caner, Ph.D. joined NC State from Ohio State University where he was a professor in the department of economics from 2015 to 2019. His field of specialization is econometrics and research interests in empirical international finance. Caner is also currently the associate editor of the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business and Economics Statistics, Econometric Reviews, and Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics. His recent research has revolved around high dimensional econometrics testing. He has also received research awards from NC State and the University of Pittsburgh. Caner received his doctorate degree in economics from Brown University.

Turanay Caner, PhD

Associate Professor, Department of Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Turanay Caner, Ph.D. returns to the Poole College of Management from St. John’s University Tobin College of Business. Her research and teaching interests include the understanding of phenomena in the domains of inter-firm and interdisciplinary relationships, innovation, and financial performance. Her work has been published in prestigious research journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, and Journal of Product Innovation and Management. Caner is also a recipient of a Research Growth and Innovation Award from NC State and research awards from St. John’s University Tobin College of Business. Caner received her doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. Prior to joining academia, she spent several years working in the manufacturing industry, financial services, and business consulting in Turkey and the United States.

Donavon Favre

Lecturer, Department of Business Management
Donavon Favre is a leader in supply chain management and has consulted for some of the largest corporations in the world. Favre previously lectured for Poole College of Management where he prepared a generation of students with real-world curriculum and practical knowledge prior to returning to consulting. Favre began as a consultant with Accenture and worked his way up to managing partner of the firm over 11 years, which is how he was able to tailor cases, examples, and analysis to real-world challenges. He now returns to Poole College with even more experience as a senior advisor for Water for Good in Cary, North Carolina. Favre will support the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative and help connect students to supply chain-related businesses. Favre received a master of business administration from the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.

Patrick Flynn, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Patrick Flynn, Ph.D. joined the Poole College of Management team from the University of South Carolina at Columbia’s Darla Moore School of Business. There, he completed his doctorate degree in management while serving as an academic research assistant. Prior to receiving his doctorate degree, Flynn was the director of program development for the Consero Group LLC based in Washington, D.C. and Dublin, Ireland. His research is based on dynamic individual and group-level processes and focuses on even-based adaptation and team citizenship behaviors. Flynn’s research has been published in the Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior.

Nathan Goldman, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting
Nathan Goldman, Ph.D. is a tenure-track accounting professor whose teaching and research interest focus on corporate taxation. His research has been published in renowned journals such as The Accounting Review and the Journal of the American Taxation Association. Goldman joins NC State from the University of Texas at Dallas where he served as an assistant professor of accounting for three years. His other prior work experience includes the University of Arizona, where he received his doctorate degree in accounting, and Deloitte & Touche LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Imran Khan

Teaching Assistant Professor, Department of Business Management
Imran Khan brings his experience covering enterprise and consumer technologies across a range of industries and functional areas to the Poole College of Management. Before joining NC State, Khan served as an assistant professor of practice at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and held marketing faculty positions with Murray State University and the University of South Alabama. He also has significant experience in the market research and consulting industry having served as a consultant/analyst for some of the leading global market research organizations including Frost & Sullivan and 451 Research, formerly The Yankee Group. In his role as a consultant/analyst, Khan has authored numerous industry studies and research insights, developed white papers, conducted industry briefings, and worked on several consulting projects.

Daisoon Kim, DBA

Assistant Professor, Department of Economics
Daisoon Kim, DBA, originally from the Republic of Korea, focuses his research on international macroeconomics, international trade, and macroeconomics fields. He received his doctorate degree in economics from the University of Washington, where he also taught courses as a graduate student. Kim’s previous role was at the London Business School in the United Kingdom as a research fellow.

Tim Kraft, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Business Management
Tim Kraft’s research focuses on the impact of environmental and social responsibility issues on supply chain and operations management decisions. His research topics include investigating companies’ and non-governmental organizations’ decisions regarding substances of concern in product lines, examining collaborative methods to improve the management of chemicals in supply chains, and studying when increased supply chain transparency affects consumers’ and companies’ decisions in social responsibility contexts. Kraft joined Poole College from the MIT Sloan School of Management and has also worked for several companies that include PricewaterhouseCoopers and RadioShack Corporation. He received his doctorate degree from Stanford University.

Allison Lowe-Reed

Lecturer, Department of Economics
Allison Lowe-Reed is a former graduate of the Jenkins Master of Economics program and is now transitioning into a full-time lecturer of economics for Poole College. Her research interests include science and innovation policy, applied economics, the role of economics in policy, and economic institutions supporting private firm growth. Prior to working at NC State, Lowe-Reed served as a lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, an adjunct faculty member at Meredith College, and as a financial markets analyst with the North Carolina Department of Commerce. She has received an Outstanding Teaching Award from Poole College and is a Beta Gamma Sigma faculty inductee for the NC State chapter. Lowe-Reed is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in public policy at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Erin Powell, PhD

Assistant Professor of Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Erin Powell, Ph.D. joined the Poole College of Management faculty from Clemson University where she served as an assistant professor. Powell received her doctorate degree from the NC State Wilson College of Textiles in technology management and previously served as an assistant professor in innovation and entrepreneurship for two years. She has held other positions as a visiting assistant professor at Brown University and as a supply chain and capacity planner with the Russel Corporation.
