Steve Allen, interim associate dean of academic programs, sits down to discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on North Carolina businesses and industries across the United States. As North Carolina transitions through phase two of reopening, Allen sees the light at the end of the tunnel for local businesses as he looks towards the future of the state’s economy.

“I think the question will be how will we come out of this,” said Allen. “You see the economy is opening up gradually and here in North Carolina we are doing it in stages. Eventually there will be a stage three and you can envision more sectors of the economy opening and that is a hopeful sign.”

Allen breaks down how COVID-19 has affected small businesses, if the economy will return back to normal, how businesses withstand the current economic situation, which companies have benefited from COVID-19 and advice for recent graduates in a COVID-19 world.
