It\u2019s a difficult year to plan air travel. The war in Iran has led to skyrocketing oil prices, which means already expensive flights to Europe might be out of reach for many travelers. Business Insider<\/em> asked multiple experts what rising airfare and oil issues mean for summer vacation plans. These experts included industry experts, points mavens and Rob Handfield<\/a>, the Bank of America University Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management at Poole College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Handfield said that last-minute deals on summer travel were \u201cunlikely to happen.\u201d He added that airfares probably won\u2019t go down until the price of oil lowers and \u201cthere is no way of knowing when that will happen.\u201d He recommends that anyone looking to travel books flexible fares when possible, because it will enable them to easily rebook if prices fall. Handfield himself says that he\u2019s reconsidering a summer vacation in Europe due to ticket costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
