Business Administration Minor

The Business Administration Minor will give you an understanding of basic business concepts and experience and proficiency across additional areas of business, including human resource management, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship and information technology.

The majority of classes –– core and electives –– needed to complete a business minor are offered online in Summer 2019.

The business minor can be completed online in just two summers!

Eligibility

  • The Business Administration Minor is open to all NC State students except Accounting (ACC) and Business Administration (BUS) majors
  • Requires a 3.0 or better cumulative NC State GPA.

Learning Objectives

Students completing the minor will:

  • Gain an understanding of the language of business and basic concepts of business including the fundamentals of economics and core concepts of financial accounting.
  • Gain experience and proficiency across 3-4 additional areas of business including HR, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship and information technology.

Minor Requirements

To complete the minor, students need to take 6 courses (18 hours), including 3 core courses and 3 electives.

Course Registration Timeline for Minors

Business Administration minors will be able to enroll in 300-level minor classes for Fall term at 9 a.m. on Aug. 1 and Spring term at 9 a.m. the last day of exams of the Fall semester regardless of enrollment date.

Requirements

  • The Business Administration minor is designed primarily as a summer program.

To successfully complete the minor, students are strongly encouraged to take non-restricted Poole courses during the summer terms or participate in a Poole Summer Abroad Program. Poole College does not guarantee after admission that you will be able to complete your minor if you only complete classes during the Fall & Spring terms.

  • Please be aware that course completion alone will not result in certification of the Business Administration minor.

In order for the minor to be certified, you must apply and be admitted to the Business Administration minor by your last semester at NC State.

  • The minor must be completed no later than the semester in which the student expects to graduate from his or her degree program.
