Black By Popular Demand

CALLING ALL BLACK STUDENTS W/ A NICHE!

In the wake of COVID-19, we have decided to move Black By Popular Demand to a virtual platform. If you are developing a start-up, promoting your brand, doing pertinent research in a specific field, or just have a story and message to share with the community–this is your time to shine!

“Black By Popular Demand,” hosted by Poole Diversity, welcomes you into the spotlight for this social media challenge so you can share your niche to an even larger network!

We are looking for 10 students, with a strong footing in NC State’s Black community, to highlight in the categories of: Brands/Visual Artists, Research, Start-Ups, Civic leadership, Mental Wellness, and World Travel.

Step 1: Create a “tiktok” to showcase your “passion”! Have fun, be creative!

  1. Time Length: Video must be 60 seconds
  2. Must be your own content, whether art/pictures/etc, if utilizing copyrighted music or audio, please note in the “Sound” section on the app to give rightful credit
  3. Post to your tictok account and tag “@Poole-Diversity” with #BBPD2020

Step 2: Utilize This Google Form to answer additional questions about your content:

    1. What do you create? What have you experienced?
    2. Why is it important to you to share this content with other members of NC State’s Black community and the world as a whole?
    3. How has your content (ex. The trip you took, the brand you created, etc.) affected you personally?

Timeline:

  1. Students provide additional information about their “entry” via Google Form (go.ncsu.edu/bbpd2020) by date??
  2. Students post their “entry” on their tictok account by April 17?
  3. Someone? With access to Poole-Diversity IG will repost the entries to Poole-diversity account on date??
  4. Poole College will feature the 10 entries on the main page, directing people to poole-diversity on date??

Tallies for prize awarding will be counted on date??

Prize Categories:

  1. “You’re VIRAL” – Most Likes on TikTok: Amazon Gift Card, $50
  2. “Campus Celebrity” – Most Votes on the Poole Diversity Instagram: Amazon gift card, $50
  3. “Double Threat” – If same person wins both, – Amazon gift card, $150
  4. “Poole Popular” – Most PCOM staff votes via the Poole Diversity IG – Amazon gift card $25
