Why did you choose to study abroad?
I had gone on a summer program before and felt like I wanted more time, so went for a semester to be able to immerse myself in a culture for longer and have more opportunities to travel.
What is one of your favorite memories or experiences from studying abroad?
I went hiking in a National Park in Croatia, and on my last day in the park I added an extra loop. When I hiked all the way to the top of that area there was a massive rainbow sitting on the waterfall. To this day, that’s the best view I’ve ever seen.
How did your study abroad experience prepare you for your future career?
Marketable skills! When studying abroad, I really developed my adaptability and independence, in addition to many other skills, and I now have great stories and examples about using these skills that I can tell to potential employers.
What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Try something once before you say no. This rule helps weed out any aversion to trying new things, and it helped me realize that I liked doing/eating many things that I thought I wouldn’t enjoy.
