Scholarships and Financing

Poole College of Management students can afford to study abroad! Typically, students use a combination of resources – financial aid, scholarships, and personal funds – to pay for their international experience.

The NC State Study Abroad Office has many resources available online to learn about these types of funding. To learn more, visit the Study Abroad Office’s website. These resources are particularly useful for semester programs which have a different funding structure than summer study abroad programs.

Financial Aid

Students are eligible to receive financial aid towards the cost of any study abroad program if the courses fulfill degree requirements and the student is taking a full course load. To learn more about how financial aid can be used for studying abroad, please visit the “Financial Aid” page of the Study Abroad Office’s website. In addition, specific questions about how financial aid can be used should be directed to Tara Micgiel (tmicgie@ncsu.edu) in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Scholarship Resources

There are many opportunities for students to apply to both NC State and non-NC State Scholarships. NC State scholarships for study abroad are managed by the Study Abroad Office. To learn more about NC State scholarships and how to apply, please click here. Students must complete a separate application apart from the program application to be considered for the scholarships. The scholarship application for Summer 2018 opens on September 20, 2017; the deadline is November 15, 2017. Click Here to Apply!

In addition to NC State scholarships, students can also apply to scholarships provided by other organizations such as companies, religious organizations, and the like. The Study Abroad Office has compiled a list of common non-NC State scholarships which can be found here.

Summer Program Financing

Students participating on a Poole College of Management summer study abroad program will be charged one program fee. The program fee includes:

  • Application Charge
  • Commitment Deposit
  • Tuition
  • Housing
  • In-country excrusions
  • Corporate Visits
  • Some meals
  • International Health Insurance
  • Cultural events

The program fee does not include: airfare, personal travel, some meals, textbooks, and passport/visa fees. When budgeting to cover the costs of the study abroad program, it is important to plan for all expenses beyond the cost of the program fee.
