I am a junior majoring in Accounting, and am from Mooresville, North Carolina. I live on Lake Norman, so I love waterskiing and wake boarding with my friends and family. I love playing any kind of sports and enjoy reading in my free time.
Involvement in the Community
Aside from being an ambassador for Poole, I am the Panhellenic Delegate for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, a Chancellor’s Aide, participate in any intramural team and play club lacrosse.
Living in Raleigh
Raleigh is the best! Its the best of both worlds. Downtown Raleigh is always fun for adventuring but Raleigh also has great parks and trails to visit, as well. This city is also home to many big companies that recruit heavily from NC State, which makes it great for networking and making valuable connections.
Something I’ve Learned That I’ve Already Used
You get out what you put in. Poole has some amazing resources such as experienced faculty and weekly events at the college. I quickly learned that in order to take advantage of these resources, it is important to make an effort to meet these people and attend those networking events. Because once you put in the effort, the possibilities for success are endless.
I do not know exactly what I want to do upon graduation, but I do know I want to make an impact wherever I end up in the business world. With my love of sports, I would love to work for a professional sports team somewhere down the road!
Your “Defining the Future of Business” Moment
Joining Ambassadors has been an amazing experience. I absolutely love what this college is doing for their students and I knew I wanted to be involved. The things I have learned from older students and professors are priceless. A special moment for me was when I was asked to be on the student panel with three other ambassadors and help answer questions from incoming students’ parents. I have always been scared of public speaking, but being an ambassador for Poole has taught me how to be speak in front of large crowds. I actually enjoy it now! It was really cool for me to show how much I love this college and share my experiences.
I had no clue what I wanted to study so I picked business because I knew it would be a great foundation for any career. I was so nervous for orientation because I knew it was going to be the moment when I would see if I made the right choice or not. It was the best decision I have made since being in college. I quickly understood why this college is so successful. The faculty wants you to succeed and it is so evident by all the events they plan for their students, whether it be networking events with large companies, fashion shows that you show what is appropriate to wear to what events, or mock interviews to prepare you for the real deal.
