New Spaces Fuel Innovation and Collaboration
Since their debut in Nelson Hall in August, three newly-renovated spaces continue to bustle with activity. Be sure to check them out the next time you visit our building!
Nelson Hall Ground Floor
Active Learning Classrooms and Collaboration Space
The ground floor of Nelson Hall has been transformed into a modern, innovative space that features a 90-person high-tech active learning environment, a 32-person flexible classroom, open collaboration spaces, student meeting rooms and a conference room. It is the only learning environment of its kind on NC State’s campus. For those of you who remember our previous basement space, the transformation is truly astonishing.
Financial Markets Lab
Located in Nelson 2403, the Financial Markets Lab houses state-of-the-art Bloomberg Terminals similar to those used by finance industry professionals worldwide. The lab is primarily for our capstone finance courses as well as students managing the Bell Tower Capital Management investment fund, but it is open to all Poole students who want to do in-depth research into financial markets, companies and the economy.
The Exchange
Our second-floor cafe — the former “PCJ” — now serves Caribou Coffee beverages, as well as an expanded menu of breakfast and lunch items. Named “The Exchange,” both for the stock market connotation as well as its identity as a gathering place, the cafe and lounge area will continue to be a vibrant hub where students, faculty and staff come together to connect and collaborate.
