Poole professors named editors of The Financial Review
The board of directors of the Eastern Finance Association has selected two professors at the NC State Poole College of Management to serve as the next editors of its peer-reviewed journal, The Financial Review.
Richard Warr and Srini Krishnamurthy, professor and associate professor of finance, respectively, in Poole College’s Department of Business Management, will serve as editors for the next three years, with the option to renew the appointment for a second three years.
“Serving as editors of the peer-reviewed journal is a significant honor for the faculty and the college,” Warr said. With nearly 50 years of publication, “this is one of the oldest finance journals,” he said. The Eastern Finance Association, established in Pennsylvania, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014 and typically holds its meetings in the eastern U.S.
Membership to the EFA is open to the international finance community and annual meetings provide an opportunity for academics, doctoral students and practitioners to hear reports on the latest finance research by faculty at colleges and universities throughout the United States and globally.
The journal is published four times a year, with a total of about 25 to 30 research articles annually.
As editors, Warr and Krishnamurthy will process research papers submitted by faculty researchers from its global membership, selecting referees to review the 250 to 300 papers submitted in a typical year and decide which will be included in the journal.
“The bigger picture of what we do is to continue to build the journal's reputation as a high quality broad finance journal with international appeal,” Warr said. “We are just the latest set of editors, and our job is to ensure that we pass the journal on to the next editors in an even better state than how we inherited it.”
The Finance Journal is accessible online through its publisher’s website – http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1111/(ISSN)1540-6288. Warr and Krishnamurthy have also created a website where faculty will be submitting their papers for consideration and where the editors will curate the published work.
“We intend to start an editor's blog for discussion of important findings in the papers that we publish,” Warr said. “We want to make the work published in our journal accessible to academics and practitioners alike.”
The previous editors were Bonnie and Robert Van Ness at the University of Mississippi.
