Bonnie Yarboro Named to NC State Young Alumni Council

Yarboro is a one of three young professionals chosen for the council from over 6,000 recent NC State graduates. She graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in business management with a marketing concentration from the College of Management.

The Young Alumni Council was established as an advisory board of the NC State Alumni Association in November 2007, and it began to offer programs and services in 2008. Its goal is to strengthen connections between NC State University and its young alumni by providing opportunities for mentoring, networking education and service.

“Being chosen to represent my college is a great honor and opportunity,” Yarboro said. “One of my favorite things about working in admissions at the College of Management is meeting students whose parents went to NC State and still wear the NC State University ties and affiliated clothing. That makes me want to get connected with alumni, and this new position is a great opportunity to do that.”

Yarboro was selected to a three-year term and will serve with 25 young alumni from the ten academic colleges that comprise NC State University.

“My role in this new position is to review current member services and to connect alumni,” she said. “My challenge is to see what services are available and to evaluate if they bring value to recent graduates. My goal is to increase young alumni membership in the NC State Alumni Association, helping our current students to continue loving NC State beyond graduation.”

Yarboro came to NC State University from Shelby, N.C., where she graduated in 2003 from Burns High School.
