Graduates invited to donate gowns to recycling project

In the past year, Poole College introduced a sustainbility focused project – an organized effort to recycle graduation gowns. The project was again announced at the May 10 commencement ceremony.

"This sea of Wolfpack red before me is quite impressive," said Ira Weiss, dean of the college, in his remarks at the close of the commencementy ceremony. "But after today, what will happen to all these graduation gowns? As part of Poole College’s commitment to sustainability, we ask that you consider donating your graduation gown – so it can be redistributed to a student to wear at our next commencement ceremony." The college's chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi is coordinating the project, in collaboration with the college's Sustainability Inititive.

Collection bins were available on the main concourse of the PNC arena following the college's this ceremony, were many families also took personal photos with their graduates. Graduates can also drop off gowns at the college's Office of Undergraduate Programs 2150 Nelson Hall.

"We hope this gown collection program becomes a new tradition here in the Poole College of Management," Weiss said.
