Shacks are gone, but fundraising continues through Friday

The shacks are gone from NC State's Brickyard, but the former 'shack resiidents' are continuing to raise funds through NC State's annual Habitat for Humanity Shack-a-Thon through Friday, October 4. The online giving site remains open for donations. The total raised through 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, was $4,510. This does not include income from the sale of baked goods and other items at the Poole Shack on the Brickyard.

The Poole College team is also holding a bowling fundraiser at the Alley on Hillborough Street, at 7 pm. Proceeds from that event will go to help close the gap to the team's $10,000 goal for this year.

Jessica Thomas, director of the Sustainability Initiative in Poole College, stopped at the college's Shack on Friday to talk with the students. With her was a student interested a new possible undergraduate chapter of Net Impact. Thomas is determining the level of student interest for starting a chapter. Poole College's MBA students formed a chapter in the college several years ago.
