Wells Fargo Executive Lecture Series Speakers Announced

The NC State University Poole College of Management announces the 2016 spring semester lineup of speakers for its Wells Fargo Executive Series.

Greg Scheu, president of North Americas Region of ABB, will speak on January 27 and Bill McDermott, chief executive officer of SAP, will speak on March 2. 

Both presentations will be held in the Nelson Hall auditorium, 3400 Nelson Hall, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend but https://poole.ncsu.edu/index-exp.php/wells-fargo/. Free parking for this event is available in the Dan Allen Parking Deck on the NC State campus. 

About the speakers

Greg Scheu
President of North Americas region for ABB and Managing Director, US

In addintion to his role as president for ABB's North Americas region and US managing director, Scheu is also a member of ABB’s Group Executive Committee and serves as head of business integration and head of group service at ABB.

He joined ABB in 2001 and has held a variety of management positions within the company. Prior to his current roles, he served as head of marketing and customer solutions and joined the Group Executive Committee in 2012.

In 2011, Scheu was appointed North America Region division manager for Discrete Automation and Motion, where he oversaw the integration of Baldor Electric Company. A year later, he oversaw the acquisition of Thomas & Betts, serving as global integration manager. Together, these two acquisitions more than doubled ABB’s size in North America.

Scheu also served as the North America region division manager for power products from 2008 through 2011, and region division manager for automation products from 2002 through 2008. Scheu began his career at ABB as head of Global eBusiness in 2001.

He began his professional career in 1983 when he joined Westinghouse Electric in sales and product management. In 1986, he joined Allen-Bradley, now Rockwell Automation, where he held positions in sales management and operations, eventually becoming head of global channel sales at the company’s global headquarters in Milwaukee. In 2000, Scheu was named president and CEO of Source Alliance, which ABB acquired in 2001.

Scheu sits on the Board of Governors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and is also a member of the Business Roundtable in the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware.

Bill McDermott

McDermott has more than three decades of experience in business technology. He joined SAP in 2002 to lead the business in North America and has steadily risen to his current role as chief executive officer. Before joining SAP he served in senior executive roles with Siebel Systems and Gartner, Inc. He launched his business career at Xerox Corporation, where he rose to become the company’s youngest corporate officer and division president.
 
Bill got his start as a young entrepreneur running a small delicatessen business on Long Island, New York, at age 17. He is a passionate believer in engaging up-and-coming young leaders and has been recognized by organizations ranging from City Year of Greater Philadelphia to the Children’s Aid Society of New York City. A frequent speaker on leadership topics, he was a 2014 keynote speaker at Leadercast, a movement focused on building leaders worth following.
 
In addition to his SAP and civic commitments, McDermott serves on the boards of directors of Under Armour and ANSYS, Inc. He regularly contributes original content to major international publications and blogs on topics ranging from innovation to the future of business.
 
Bill received his bachelor’s degree from Dowling College and his Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
