NC State Ranked as a Top Supply Chain University

NC State University has been ranked among the top 25 global supply chain universities by SCM World, a leading cross-industry peer network and learning community serving supply chain practitioners.

SCM World based its ranking on results of its 2016 Future of Supply Chain research study, which asked nearly 1,100 supply chain practitioners to rank order universities and business schools as marketers of supply chain talent.

This reputation-based ranking naturally favored institutions with historical prestige in supply chain like Michigan State, MIT and Penn State. But, it also highlighted programs – such as NC State – that have earned a reputation because of their connection to industry.

The NC State Poole College of Management supply chain expertise is largely driven by the college’s Supply Chain Resource Cooperative (SCRC). The SCRC provides real-world experiences with SCRC partner companies for both undergraduate and MBA students in Poole College’s supply chain management concentration.

“The on-the-ground experiences students gain through our supply chain program are unique among top-tier colleges of management – and give our students valuable critical thinking and problem-solving opportunities while expanding their professional network,” said Robert Handfield, Bank of America University Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management and executive director of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative in the NC State Poole College of Management. “This creates a win for supply chain employers, as well, because graduates are ready to hit the ground running in their careers.”

NC State is was the only North Carolina-based program listed in the top 25, at No. 25. Gartner, which recently acquired SCM World, ranked NC State No. 19 in its 2016 Top 25 North American Supply Chain University Graduate Programs, published August 2016.

IBM recently featured Handfield in a series of video interviews discussing the growth of data and analytics within procurement and supply chain.
