Poole College’s Ninth Annual Leadership & Innovation Showcase to be held April 20

The applied knowledge and skills of undergraduate and graduate students in the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University will be on display at the college’s Ninth Annual Leadership and Innovation Showcase on Thursday, April 20. The event will take place on the second and third floors of Nelson Hall, 2801 Founders Drive in Raleigh, N.C., from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Student team members will be on site to talk with visitors about their approach to providing solutions for the business challenges that were presented to them – and their suggested solutions. Each team will have a poster explaining its project. The majority of the projects are based on a challenge presented by a company sponsor and are related to challenges in various aspects of business operations.

The event provides an opportunity for visitors from the campus community and the general public to see the depth and range of think and do applied by Poole College students in the course of their personal and professional development.

A team of external and internal judges will evaluate the student projects and team presentations prior to the public viewing hours. The top three teams will be recognized at an awards ceremony that concludes the event.

Guests are also invited to cast their votes for the People’s Choice award while viewing the student exhibits and talking with team members about their projects. The top three People’s Choice teams will give 90-second presentations during the awards ceremony, after which the audience will vote one more time to select the top People’s Choice team.

Student practicum and other project teams are competing for scholarship awards. Following is this year’s Showcase schedule.

• 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.: Showcase public viewing of poster displays and discussion with teams on the second and third floors of Nelson Hall
• 5:15 p.m.: 90-second pitches by the top three People’s Choice teams and final audience voting in 3400 Nelson Hall (auditorium).
• 5:30 p.m.: Winning teams will be announced.

Following presentation of the 2017 Showcase winners, the college’s annual Employer of the Year award recipient will be announced.
