Excess and Obsolete Inventory: You’re All Responsible for It

The Supply Chain Resource Cooperative, one of the centers and initiatives based in the NC State Poole College of Management, held its first-ever “Executive Roundtable on Excess and Obsolete Inventory” at NC State on October 25, 2017. Twenty-five executives from various industries and backgrounds attended the event, sponsored by Inventory Management Partners. The objective for this event was to openly discuss some of the challenges that exist in managing excess and obsolete inventory, an overlooked asset, and to begin to shine a light on approaches that can be more effective in dealing with the issue.

Robert Handfield, SCRC director and Bank of America University Distinguished Professor in Poole College’s Department of Business Management, summarized the discussion in his November 6 post on his blog, “Supply Chain View from the Field.” Read here.
