Scott Showalter Elected NCACPA Chair for 2018–2019

Scott Showalter, CPA, CGMA, and professor of practice in the NC State Poole College of Management Department of Accounting, has been named chair of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. The appointment was made during the NCACPA’s annual business meeting on June 27, when the association elected leaders of its board of directors for 2018–2019.

Showalter has been a member of Poole College’s accounting faculty for ten years, teaching advanced auditing, research and sustainability courses at the graduate level, and auditing and financial accounting at the undergraduate level. Prior to joining the Poole College of Management, he was an audit partner with KPMG LLP, where he completed his 33-year career in July 2008.

Showalter has been recognized for his teaching excellence with the Department of Accounting Graduate Teaching Award, the University Outstanding Teacher Award, and the College Accounting Research Growth and Innovation Award. He has been inducted into both the Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension and the Academy of Outstanding Teachers.

In addition to his active involvement with the American Accounting Association, Showalter completed a five-year term as a member of the Public Company Accounting  Oversight  Board  Standing  Advisory  Group and as a commissioner  in  the  Pathways  Commission (Phases I and II).
