Poole Accounting Professor Selected for AGA International Achievement Award

The Association of Government Accountants, or AGA, is proud to recognize D. Scott Showalter, CGFM, CPA, with its prestigious International Achievement Award.

The award, which recognizes leadership or outstanding achievement in international government financial management, will be presented to Showalter on Wednesday, July 25 during AGA’s Professional Development Training in Orlando, Fla.

Showalter, chairman of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board, is a frequent U.S. delegate to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Public Sector Accruals Symposium where he offers well-received presentations of global interest.

Additionally, as a professor of practice at North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management, his master’s level study abroad program introduces future global leaders to diverse cultures and government structures. He also was recently named director of the Jenkins Master of Accounting Program at Poole College.

“Mr. Showalter has been instrumental in facilitating an exchange of ideas on auditing, accounting and budgeting throughout his career on an international level,” said AGA President Jim Arnette, CGFM, CISA.

“AGA is honored to recognize his efforts that span over his long career in government financial management.”
