“My blackness pushes me ahead within Poole, because I always have to be one step ahead all the time, whether it be in class and on time, or communicating with everybody, going to office hours with my professors and being involved within the community.”

He hopes that “more people are open to knowledge, to learning of each other’s cultures. That way we can all become people and business leaders in the future.”

Beyond the college, he said that he has found “many different organizations, places where I can find community within NC State … Multicultural Student Affairs or African American Culture Center. He also is a resident advisor at Ocracoke Hall and part of the Living and Learning Initiatives at NC State.
