Josh Agner Joins Poole College Staff as Accountant

Joshua (Josh) Agner has joined the NC State Poole College of Management’s Office of Finance and Administration as accountant, and his office is in the Dean’s Suite.

He previously was a finance officer at the University of North Carolina School of Government. Agner also has 15 years’ experience at NC State, working in the business offices of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Education, and College of Engineering’s materials science and engineering departments.

Agner (’07) is an NC State alumnus, with a bachelor’s degree in history, and non-degree studies in accounting at Poole College, and said he looks forward to continue his education, including pursuing an MBA.

“I started working accounting in materials science and engineering during my undergrad studies here at NC State and never really looked back,” he said. “When I was about to graduate, one of the people I was working with was about to retire and they offered me the full-time job. I loved what I was doing and just continued it from there,” he said.

“This job (at Poole College) stood out to me as it was a culmination of everything I’ve learned while working for NC State and UNC. I can continue to learn and grow in this role and expand on everything I’ve already learned,” he said.

You can also find Agner at Best Buy, where he is a salesman in the home theater department and expects to continue that part-time, “at least for now,” he said.

Agner and his wife Beth have two sons, Bentley and Finn, ages four and two, respectively. “I love coaching my oldest in t-ball and watching all sports (Panthers, Hurricanes, NC State are my teams),” he said. “I am a big movie fan as well; Shawshank Redemption is my favorite, and I like to read.”
