Maggie Merry Joins Poole College in Finance and Administration Role
Maggie Merry has joined the NC State Poole College of Management as assistant dean for finance and administration. She reports to the dean and serves on the college’s executive leadership team.
Merry joins Poole College from The Ohio State University, where she most recently served as chief administrative officer at Ohio State’s College of Pharmacy. She credits strong mentoring for her career successes and encourages staff to seek mentors as well. (Read more about her in this Ohio State article.
At Poole College, Merry has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all finance and human resource-related initiatives in support of the college’s mission. Her overall focus is on controlling costs and appropriately increasing revenues, while maintaining compliance with state regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
She is also has a key role in overall planning and policy-making for the college, including developing systems and procedures that guide faculty and professional staff in financial management, as well as preparing reports for various state and federal agencies and representing the college on university committees and task forces. She also is the college’s liaison with related university offices, including the University Budget Office, Controller’s Office, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Contracts and Grants.
