Asia Gray-Battle Joins Poole College’s Business Services Office
Asia Gray-Battle is the newest member of Poole College’s Business Services Office. She joined the team as accounting technician on August 12. Her office is in 2103 Nelson Hall.
Gray-Battle brings more than six years’ experience in business office roles at NC State. Most recently, she was a college approver in the NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Business Office, where she was responsible for approving financial transactions, including vouchers, journal vouchers, requisitions and interdepartmental transfers. Other prior roles at NC State include administrative support specialist with the ASSIST Research Center and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, and program specialist with The Science House, where she worked with middle and high school STEM programs.
“Although I enjoy working with numbers, I really like to create resources and training materials and to improve processes and procedures. I strive to make things as effective and efficient as I possibly can and I believe my new position will allow me to do just that,” she said.
Examples from her prior roles include creating standard operating procedures and training materials aligned with state and federal spending guidelines, conducting training sessions for faculty and staff on financial processes, university policies, and college business practices to ensure compliance for federal, state, and discretionary funds, and collaborating with managers and college business units to implement procedures to streamline and improve efficiency.
Gray-Battle was born and raised in Philadelphia, Penn. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from NC State, and considers herself as being “super friendly and easy going.”
