Jenkins Online MAC Student Selected to Attend AICPA Leadership Workshop

The AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop is an all-expenses-paid annual invitational program for minority accounting students. This year the event will be held virtually and aims to strengthen students’ professional skills and understanding of the limitless possibilities and benefits of earning the CPA credential. The event this fall was scheduled to be held in New Orleans.

Jenkins online MAC student, Monica Warner, has been selected as one of the 2021 attendees to the workshop this fall. A nomination from either a faculty or licensed CPA is required to apply for this opportunity. Scott Showalter, Jenkins MAC program director nominated Warner and stated, “I was glad to write the recommendation for Monica, as this is a great opportunity for her to expand her network and learn from national leaders.”

Attendees will participate in learning sessions and panel discussions covering a wide array of topics such as developing leadership skills and passing the CPA exam. The AICPA Foundation covers the cost of student attendees’ transportation to/from the workshop location, hotel accommodations, training experience, and meals when held in person.

“I am very enthusiastic about being selected to attend the 2021 AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop. As a graduate student in the NC State MAC Program, I am looking forward to utilizing this opportunity to increase my professional network as well as my understanding of how I can contribute to the accounting profession’s commitment to expand the number of ethnic minority CPAs,” stated Warner.
