Poole College Welcomes New Full-Time Counselor Brittney Yetter

Poole College of Management welcomed a new full-time embedded counselor, Brittney Yetter, on March 13. Yetter has been working in the NC State Counseling Center since August 2021, and her responsibilities have now transitioned to fully supporting Poole student mental health and wellness with dedicated office space in Nelson Hall.

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Yetter joins Poole College with a myriad of experiences working with concerns such as stress-management, anxiety, depression, communication, relationships, grief and cultural concerns. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy from East Carolina University as well as a Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her passion for working with students in higher education began during a counseling internship in an on-campus setting.

“Through a collaborative effort, I wish to create a safe space where students’ can discuss their life experiences and goals for counseling,” said Yetter.

As embedded counselor, Yetter is a part of a university-wide initiative to expand the reach of the Counseling Center and implement more effective mental health resources in the NC State community. She adheres to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy based therapeutic approach with a primary focus tailored to the needs of students.

Who is eligible for counseling with Brittney Yetter?

Any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in the Poole College of Management. Yetter can also consult with staff or faculty about student concerns within the bounds of confidentiality.

When and how can I sign up for counseling?

  1. Sign up for an appointment through the Counseling Center’s “Getting Started” page.
  2. Attend a drop-in session hosted every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. in Nelson Hall Office 2150 in the Office of Undergraduate Programs (OUP). Students are encouraged to select a time slot via SignUpGenius.

Where is the counselor’s office? 

You can find Yetter in the Nelson Hall OUP Suite in office 2166.

Will it be covered by my student insurance?

Insurance will not be billed. There is no cost for appointments with Brittney.

What can Brittney help me with? 

Drop in spaces are great if you want to learn more about counseling services, want to get connected to services or just have a question. Outside of drop-in spaces Yetter conducts individual therapy and some groups and workshops through the Counseling Center such as Anxiety Toolbox and Relationship 102 Workshop. Since she’s not a psychiatrist, she won’t be able to prescribe you medication, but she can refer you to a psychiatrist or any other services you might need.
