Scott Showalter Reappointed Deputy Chair of International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board
Scott Showalter, director of the Jenkins Master of Accounting Program and professor of practice in accounting at Poole College, has been reappointed as deputy chair of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) for 2024.
Showalter’s selection, along with that of the other recently announced IPSASB board appointees, follows a rigorous nomination and interview process, orchestrated by the International Federation of Accountants Nominating Committee and IPSASB leadership, and subsequently endorsed by the IFAC Board.
According to the IPSASB press release, the 2024 board “will continue to be a diverse, woman-majority group, with exceptional public sector accounting experience from around the world.”

The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) works to strengthen public financial management globally through developing and maintaining accrual-based International Public Sector Accounting Standards® (IPSAS®) and other high-quality financial reporting guidance for use by governments and other public sector entities. It also raises awareness of IPSAS and the benefits of accrual adoption. The Board receives support from the Asian Development Bank, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, the New Zealand External Reporting Board, and the government of Canada.
