Poole College of Management faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and supporters from near and far joined forces on March 20 to raise the highest total number of gifts — 3,193 — across NC State on the university’s 2024 Day of Giving.

Those 3,193 gifts translate into $818,256 raised to support the college’s mission to develop innovative leaders, create world-class research and engage with our community to make the world a better place to live and work.

“Our Day of Giving success is a reflection of our entire Poole Pack community,” says Dean Frank Buckless. “We are deeply grateful for your investment and for your commitment to realizing the college’s full potential and uncovering a brighter future than ever.”

The college focused on four of its most essential funds on Day of Giving: the Mental Health and Wellness Fund, the Poole College Faculty Enrichment Fund, the Poole College of Management General Scholarship Fund and the Poole College of Management Excellence Fund. Each of these funds — and many others — garnered support from our generous donors.

The new Mental Health and Wellness Fund received over $17,000 on Day of Giving, creating opportunities for meaningful positive impact on the wellbeing of Poole College students.

“I feel that it is so important to continue to support our students’ mental wellbeing,” says Poole’s embedded counselor Brittney Yetter. “It is my hope that this new fund will be able to continue to reduce the stigma around mental health and provide support to students in more creative ways.”

The Poole Student Advisory Board (PSAB) garnered support on Day of Giving for its recently-launched scholarship fund. It was established by the class of 2023 senior members of the PSAB to create a tradition of giving back to new students in Poole. It will support a scholarship for an incoming freshman as well as faculty awards that are voted on by students.

“I was thrilled to learn that we had exceeded our fundraising goal after only 24 hours during NC State’s Day of Giving,” says PSAB President Julianna Lopez, a senior majoring in accounting. “I almost couldn’t believe it … and I was thrilled to share the news with my fellow board members who worked so hard during the Day of Giving spreading the word about our initiative.”

In addition to securing the most gifts raised of any other participating college or unit across the university, Poole College also netted bonus prizes for winning a number of giving and social media challenges on Day of Giving.

Here are the highlights:

  • Total number of gifts – 3,193
  • Overall dollars raised – $818,256
  • 100% participation from the Poole College Advisory Board
  • Ranked first in total number of gifts across NC State
  • Won 11 hourly challenges
  • Won one all-day challenge (One Wolfpack Challenge)
  • Placed second in the Go Further Challenge
  • Met our NC Foundation Challenge goal (1,500 gifts)

Throughout the day, the Poole Pack community gathered in the college’s Day of Giving HQ — Nelson Hall’s Port City Java Commons — for a lively celebration that included a photo booth, fresh-popped popcorn and other refreshments, music, free swag and a visit (including one classroom surprise) from Mr. and Ms. Wuf.

“It was a wonderful day of community and engagement, both on campus and online,” Buckless says. “Thank you for #GivingPack!”
