The Jenkins MAC Program offers a new way to stay connected with industry issues — and with Poole College.

The Jenkins Master of Accounting program is offering a new opportunity to get an insider’s view of the profession — and it’s available around the clock just about anywhere.

The MAC Advantage conversation series “fits a niche we’re currently not filling any other way,” MAC program director Scott Showalter says.

It’s another first for the MAC program, which marks its 30th anniversary this year.

“We view it as an extension of our Lifelong Learning Programs series,” Showalter says. MAC’s Lifelong Learning, a collaboration with NC State Executive Education, offers virtual summer sessions and an annual summit to MAC alumni and other professionals.

“The MAC Advantage series is consistent with the same philosophy as Lifelong Learning … to provide folks a chance to learn about things they don’t normally have an opportunity to learn,” he says.

The first episode features Christina Ho, a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. She discusses the board’s function, national accounting standards and regulations, and the impacts of artificial intelligence and other technology on auditing.

Showalter will host the monthly video series, with episodes running about 20 minutes. He expects other guests to include Tom Hood with the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, and Robert Broome, advocacy director with the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Successful businesspeople, including Jenkins MAC program graduates, will be featured, too.

“It’s another opportunity to communicate with our alumni and friends throughout the year, a way to keep that connectivity,” Showalter notes. “When you’re a graduate of our MAC program, we feel you’re family for life.”

The podcast also will highlight the MAC program’s connection with industry thought leaders. “We think it will distinguish us,” Showalter says, “and set us apart from other MAC programs.”
