Poole College Offers New Finance Courses for Spring 2025

The following courses count toward the finance concentration:

BUS 423: Advanced Investments uses data analysis to understand the performance and behavior of different securities over time. This course is a great option for students interested in developing their data analysis skills in a finance context. Finance has become a data-driven field, and these skills are sought after. Taught by: Charlie Clarke.

BUS 427: Capital Markets Essentials is an overview of securities markets, including asset backed securities, derivatives, credit default swaps, and others. This course will provide students with an understanding of how to value different securities and the roles they play in finance. Taught by: Amir Mehr.

The following course counts as a substitute for MIE 480:

BUS 480: Capstone Security Valuation and Portfolio Management is a capstone course that integrates investment concepts and develops advanced portfolio management tools and techniques using real-time data from Bloomberg terminals. This course is taught in the financial markets lab by Reza Estilaei.
