Professor Ira Weiss Gives Insight on Holiday Shopping Finances

WalletHub recently completed a survey to determine what American consumers are going to buy, how much they are going to spend, and how they are going to pay for gifts this holiday season. According to the survey, six out of ten Americans reported that they are more financially stable this year than last holiday season, and plan to spend more on presents for loved ones. At the same time, one in six people will apply for a new credit card during this time of the year. “There has been a significant increase in personal savings and a decrease in credit card debt during this time,” said Ira Weiss, a professor in the Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at NC State, when discussing the impact of new credit card applications.
