Poole College’s Deonte Holden Overcomes Injury to Play Football This Season

Deonte Holden, a graduate student in Poole College of Management’s Global Luxury and Management (GLAM) program, has overcome all of the odds stacked against him to make his first career start as a defensive end against Florida State. Holden suffered a broken foot early on in his NCAA career and had many extensive surgeries to fix it. At one point, the doctors suggested that Holden should hang up his jersey to prevent further injuries, and to this Holden said that he does not quit anything. “He’s really hard-headed, but in a good way. He won’t quit. His foot was bad. But he kept saying it will work out,” said head coach David Doeren on Holden’s persistence to play. Read more about Deonte Holden from the News & Observer.
