Tom Relihan Joins Poole College to Elevate Social Media
Tom Relihan has joined the Poole College of Management as a social media specialist and a member of the Marketing and Media team. He will be working out of the NC State University Communications’ Social Media Hub, a team of skilled social media professionals working across the campus.
Relihan joins Poole College from the Boston area where he served as a news writer and helped manage the social media presence of the MIT Sloan School of Management. As a contributor to the relatively new, Webby award-winning MIT Sloan website, Relihan and his previous team were responsible for producing the editorial thought-leadership content that topped the home page and powered the school’s social media presence. He also contributed to Thinking Forward, a weekly newsletter for global business leaders, which was produced by MIT Sloan.
Prior to MIT Sloan, Relihan has worked at a variety of news outlets in Massachusetts including The Enterprise in Brockton, The Recorder in Greenfield, and the Daily Hampshire Gazette in Northampton. In these roles, he focused his writing on education, community, health care, and human services.
Within Poole College, Relihan is responsible for promoting the college’s online presence and engaging with key audiences and will be a part of the strategic web unit. His overall role is developing and overseeing strategic social media and digital initiatives for Poole College that are in line with the college and university’s strategic goals.
Outside of Poole College, Relihan has settled in from his move to Raleigh and enjoys hiking with his wife, Jen, and their dog, cooking, reading, and martial arts.
“Tom brings to Poole College strategic communications insights and strong experience in a business school environment. I am particularly excited for our team to learn from his experience in leveraging the power of relevant content and social media to more effectively share ideas and connect with our various constituents,” said Christine Ferrell, director of marketing and media relations for the NC State Poole College of Management.
