Work at Poole College

I truly enjoy working through the cycle of semesters in Poole and the impact the college has had on the local community and how it helps the students.

What do you see as the greatest strengths of Poole College?

Our ability to grow and develop with the society to allow the college to maintain the highest standards for faculty, staff, and students.

What advice would you give a staff member who has recently joined Poole College?

Your career will bring both fast times and slow times, and you should take the time to enjoy them all and stay in the moment. But, remember to be flexible because not everyone is on your career fast track.

Professional Accomplishments

What project that you completed at Poole you are most proud of?

Being able to pilot and launch Mediasite, which allows faculty to record and link lectures to Moodle, as a foundation in our teaching spaces.

What do you believe is your most interesting accomplishment as a staff member?

Being able to represent the university as a positive role model and volunteer in the local community.

Life Outside of Poole

When you are not at Poole College, what do you enjoy doing for fun?

I am a therapy dog handler for WakeMed and a private agency, Canines for Therapy, which takes me into all types of areas from sport, to law enforcement, to medicine to civic organizations, and to speaking events, my favorite role, where I educate audiences on therapy and service dogs and their impact on society. I also do animal rescue efforts by representing the agency’s adoptable animals through local media outlets.

What do you consider as your greatest accomplishment outside of work?

Supporting other agencies and professions (nursing, law enforcement, business) through my service and volunteering as a therapy dog handler.
