Staff Spotlight: Sarah Danaher
Sarah Danaher is an admissions assistant with the Jenkins MBA program and has been with the Poole College of Management for about a year and a half. The Vermont native earned a bachelor of arts in French and secondary education from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania and a master of library science from North Carolina Central University.
As an admissions assistant, Danaher is responsible for being the first point of contact for prospective students considering NC State’s Jenkins MBA program, therefore she is in charge of providing these prospective students with information regarding application materials, admissions processes and sense of what it feels like to be a part of the Wolfpack community. Behind the scenes, she also utilizes inbound marketing systems like Hubspot to identify and drive leads, track visitors, and user engagement for additional pipeline development. Danaher is also a graduate of the Equal Opportunity Institute program and a GLBT advocate.
Work at Poole College
Why did you decide to join Poole College?
I have always loved the fact that Poole College embraces diversity and inclusion as well as prepares it’s students to be successful leaders in both the local and global community.
What have you enjoyed most about your experience at Poole College?
I have enjoyed the sense of community that recognizes and values its members’ unique strengths to achieve a common goal.
What do you see as the greatest strengths of Poole College?
Poole provides its students not only with an “entrepreneurial mindset but the entrepreneurial spirit” needed to take on such a dynamic economy.
Professional Accomplishments
What project that you completed at Poole you are most proud of?
I have designed a prerequisite course tracking system for prospective applicants and admitted students to make sure they have met the necessary requirements prior to beginning Jenkins MBA coursework. Jenkins is currently in the process of automating this process in Slate, our admissions software system.
What do you believe is your most interesting accomplishment as a staff member?
I have called over 500+ prospective students to offer admissions advice, answer questions about the application materials as well as provide any needed encouragement during the process.
Life Outside of Poole
Where were you born and what countries/state/cities did you live it?
I was born in Berlin, Vermont and I have lived in Waitsfield, Vermont, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Annecy, France, Copenhagen, Denmark and Cary, North Carolina.
When you are not at Poole College, what do you enjoy doing for fun?
I love attending CorePower Vinyasa yoga classes! I travel a lot and have (so far) attended classes in 4 different states! It is my goal to attend a CorePower Vinyasa yoga class in every state that has a studio. Otherwise, I love reading, hiking and practicing my French-speaking skills whenever possible!
What do you consider as your greatest accomplishment outside of work?
I attended college on a full-ride scholarship for bowling where I graduated salutatorian.
Share with us any other additional information you would like the college community to know about you or your work.
I love to volunteer, especially for causes that hit close to home. This year I volunteered for Activate Good’s 9/11 Day of Service where I gathered and disposed of trash, stickers, and graffiti in a designated 5-block radius of Downtown Raleigh as part of the Jenkins MBA team. The reason this hits so close to home is that September 11th is my birthday and I feel the need (even through small acts) to leave the world a little better and a little brighter than it was in 2001.
