Fara Amiri Brings Her Global Experience to Poole College

Fara Amiri has joined the Poole College of Management as a member of the Office of Global Programs team. She will serve as the program coordinator and is currently located at the front desk of the dean’s suite.

Amiri’s vast global experience has prepared her for this role as most recently she served as an international programs coordinator for IES Abroad, a not-for-profit study abroad provider with over 35 locations worldwide based in Chicago, Illinois. There, she managed a portfolio of overseas centers and over 15 programs throughout Europe and Latin America, updated the website, created student’s pre-departure materials, and oversaw various academic processes like course registration and syllabi.

Prior to IES Abroad, Amiri lived in Madrid, Spain, for two years where she taught English and developed cultural activities for both private and public schools while completing her master’s degree. She says that living and working in Spain was one of the highlights of her career because it helped her find her passion for international education and the study abroad field.

As a program coordinator, Amiri will be responsible for recruitment and programming support for the International Business Dual Degree (IBDD) program, managing students coming to Poole as international exchange students, coordinating incoming summer study abroad programs, helping support the GLAM program, and contributing to the overall mission and operation of the Office of Global Programs.

Amiri received her bachelor’s degree in both journalism and mass communication and history from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2013. Her master’s degree in international education was earned from the Universidad de Alcalá in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, in 2016 where she completed coursework in both English and Spanish.

Outside of work, the Miami-native likes to read, travel, listen to podcasts, watch soccer games, discover new shows on Netflix, and boxing when she’s feeling active. Amiri is also very passionate about activism and getting involved in the Latinx community.

“I am thrilled to have Fara join the team. As the Global Programs Office moves to a college-wide initiative, Fara will play a big role,” said Robert Sandruck, director of global programs. “She will help with recruiting students to our IBDD Program, work closely with SKEMA students and international exchange students and managing the programs we host in the summer from our international partners and help support the GLAM Program.”
