NC State Alumna Carson Powell Joins Poole College as Marketing and Communications Manager

Carson Powell joins the Office of Marketing and Communications at the NC State Poole College of Management as a marketing and communications manager effective Aug. 3. Powell is replacing Anna Rzewnicki who retired in 2019 after working for 15 years in the college, most recently as a senior writer. Powell is part of an integrated communications team reporting to Maria Potepalova.

Powell joined Poole College in summer 2018 as a student intern to assist with writing content for Poole News and tracking media mentions. After graduating from NC State in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, she joined the college as a temporary communications assistant.

“I began my career at Poole College as a student intern my senior year at NC State and was impressed by the incredible work from the faculty, staff and students,” said Powell.

“Two years later I am proud to be continuing my journey with one of the most innovative colleges on campus and am looking forward to more opportunities with the marketing and communications team.

Powell’s role has evolved and now includes producing editorial content, coordinating communications for the key college events, managing internal communication projects, supporting college’s units with communications needs and providing general support to the team.

“I am very excited to have Carson Powell on the marketing and communications team in a more permanent role. What started out as a student intern opportunity has since morphed into a role that suits her many talents and strengths,” said Jenny Hammond, chief marketing and communications officer at Poole College.

“Carson is cool, calm and collected and easily multitasks across many projects at once. She has had the opportunity to work with many of our units already, but I look forward to having her work with all of our units as we work to support the goals and initiatives of Poole College.”

In her free time, Powell enjoys horseback riding, a sport she has been competing in since she was five years old, at MacNairs Country Acres in Raleigh. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her two dogs, Goose and Rey, and her family in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
